Munzila means path

Munzila Safaris is family owned and family run. It was founded by Sakile Maphosa, who grew up in Victoria Falls, close enough to the gorge to hear the water in the rainy season, and who started out guiding small groups through the rainforest at first light.

Guests kept asking the same question at the end of a tour: could she arrange the rest of the trip too — the cruise, the transfers, the days beyond the falls? She did, and the company grew out of those requests rather than out of a business plan. Today it is still the same family answering the messages and meeting guests at the airport.

We have stayed deliberately small. Every itinerary is written by someone who has driven the road, met the lodge manager and eaten the breakfast. That is the advantage of being local and family run, and we are not interested in trading it for scale.
